250,000 Trees For Northland
Good progress in the scheme for the planting of 250,0C0 native trees to mark the centennial of the Dominion, was reported at the North Auckland Forest Society meeting last night. Many schools had advised that they had up to 1,000 seedlings, doing well. Widespread distribution of the trees is planned by the society, which has also undertaken to care for the trees in future years.
So far as planting sites are concerned the society has received the utmost help and sympathy of Northland local bodies. It plans to plant the trees in many road reserves under the control of county councils. Last night an assurance of support was elsq. received from the Waipu Cove Domain Board.
