Market Easier At Stortford Lodge

[Per Press Association. Copyright.] HASTINGS, This Dayy. The cattle market at Stortford Lodge was generally easier again, most of the entries showing signs of severe winter conditions and coming forward in Very ragged order. The yarding consisted of approximately 270 head of fat, dairy and store lots. Quality generally was poorer than at recent sales, and lines were hard to quit. Heifer beef showed a decline on last week's values, top price in this class making £9/16/-. Except for one outstanding ox, beef sold on a par with last week’s values. A bullock realised £l4/15/, and two others made to £l4/13/6. Cow beef quotations were easier, prices ranging from £4/17/- to £7/15/-. Dairy sorts and store cows met with a slack market, prices being far below vendors' expectations. Good sorts realised from £4/15/ to £B. In the sheep section, the outstanding feature was the continued demand for good hoggets, top price being 20/7,

equalling the top price for the season, paid a fortnight ago. The market for store ewes was very slack, many lines only soliciting one bid. The best price paid was for a line of 2-tooth ewes in good order, these selling at 22/4. Other lines were down to as low as 5/-. Fat sheep Showed a slight improvement in all sections, fat ewes making up to 21/9. One fat wether realised 29/, and good fat and forward hoggets made up to 22/6. Tire total of sheep entered was cn a par with recent sales, the number being 3000 store sheep and 1000 fat sheep.
