Maunganui’s Cruise
[Special to “Northern Advocate.” J AUCKLAND, This Day.
A wireless bulletin from the Union Company’s steamer Maunganui, on her second Pacific Island cruise, reports that the weather was cold for a day or two after leaving Wellington, but since then fine conditions have been experienced.
The Maunganui left Vavau on Sunday afternoon for Apia. Unfortunately one of the passengers developed a mild attack of measles, and the ship’s wireless message advised that as a result passengers would not be allowed to land at Apia. The stay will be cut down by a day and extra time will now be spent in Fiji. The Maunganui will return to Auckland on August 19.
