Testing Of Bowls

The need for adequate provisions for the testing of bowls in the North to conform to stipulations recently laid down by the Dominion Bowling Council was recognised by the North Auckland Bowling Centre at its annual meeting at Whangarei last night. The secretary. Mr E. B. Moore, ih his annual report, reminded members that the council had laid down strict rules that all bowls used in future tournaments were to be stamped as having been tested and found to conform to standard requirements. North Auckland Neglected. Mr M. Edgar pointed out that 22 centres were to have official testers appointed to them. Of these, 17 testers had already been appointed. North Auckland was the 11th largest centre in New Zealand, but so far its claims had not been considered. The secretary stated that information had come to hand from the council that individual centres could appoint their own official to test local players bowls. Any bowls not conforming to the standard would, in the case of North Auckland, be forwarded to the official tester at Auckland for adjustment. Permission Granted? Members pointed out that last week information that North Auckland had been granted the right to appoint an official had appeared in the press. The president, Mr B. R. Miller; We have received no official notification. It was finally decided to appoint Mr Moore as official tester for North Auckland, to be stationed at Whangarei and to seek the approval of the Dominion Council for his appointment.
