(Received 3 p.m.) BERLIN, July 29. In the European zone final of the Davis Cup, bach of the contending Countries won one of the •opening singles. F. Puncec (Yugoslavia) beat H. Henkel (Germany), 6—l, 7—5, 6—3. G. Von Metaxa (Germany) beat J. Pallada (Yugoslavia), I—6, 6—l, 6—l, 3—6, 12—10. A Kansas City message says that in the American zone semi-final of the Davis Cup, Australia is leading Mexico by two rubbers to nil. A. K. Quist beat Hernandez, 6—l, 7 —5, 6 —4. J. E. Bromwich beat Tapia, 6—4. 6 —4. 6-4.
