Teachers Salaries’ Adjustment
I Special to " Northern■ Advocate." 1 WELLINGTON. This Day. An. adjustment to the scale of tehchers’ salaries, based on the report of the committee set up in Desember, 1936, was announced by the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, today. It provides for a greater range of increments, and also for a reduction in the number of grades of Salaries. Briefly, the now scale represents an adjustment on two main principles — (a) Payment of a teacher on a “basic scale,’’ according to ye'ars of service, and (b)- payment of a ‘■position’’ salary evaluated 'according to the position occupied. The total additional costs in the current financial year will be £57,000.
