Opuawhanga
Mrs Powell took the chair in the absence of the president and vicepresidents at the July meeting of the Opuawhanga Institute. It was proposed by Mrs Powell and seconded by Mrs Weaver that there be no prize for the competition provided by the hostess in the social hour. The competition was “makes of motor cars” and Mrs Powell and Mrs Huwiler tied. Mrs Huwiler gained first place in the competition for “the best ironed and folded shirt.” Afternoon tea was enjoyed by all with Mrs I. Thorburn as hostess.
