Mercury Completes Flight
(Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 21. The pilot, Mr Bennett, wirelessed Imperial Airways that the Mercury passed over Cape Bauid, Northern Newfoundland, at 8.29 a.m. today, flying at an altitude of 5000 feet. The aeroplane completed the crossing in 13 hours 29 minues, averaging 150 miles hourly, and is now proceeding to Montreal. This is the shortest eastwest crossing so far made. The aeroplane is expected to reach Montreal at 2.30 p.m. (British sum-mer-time). During part of the flight, the Mercury encountered heavy rain and thick fog.
