Power Towers Erected Over Otira Gorge

ISpecial To “Northern Advocate "]■ CHRISTCHURCH,, This Day. One of the most difficult tasks undertaken in hydro-electrical development in New Zealand has been completed. It consists in the erection of steel towers to carry the transmission lines over the Otira Gorge to supply the West Coast. Power will be supplied from the Lake Coleridge-Waitaki scheme, and will be carried on the double circuit 66.000-volt , line, running through to ■Hokitika and then to Dobson, the main distributing point. Power will be used for working the big gold dredges, and for building up the existing commercial and domestic supply in the Grey district. The estimated cost of the complete undertaking is £165,000.
