A. D. Brown, of Auckland, who was recently seen in Whangarei in exhibition matches against A. C. Stedman, won the North Island singles tennis title at New Plymouth on Saturday. He was matched against V. Sturt, who was not at the top of his form, and Brown was always superior. Brown excelled in all departments, impressing with low-flighted drives, smashes and positional play. Results: — Men’s Singles.—Final: A. D. Brown beat V. Sturt, 6—4, 6 —2.
