Mako was in better form than he was on Thursday. Quist was the attacker, but both went to the net whenever possible. Stirring Contest. The match between von Gramm and Budge was a stirring, hard-hitting contest. Both were evenly matched at championship standard, and the match was the most outstanding example of tennis seen at Kooyong. The remarkable pace of Budge’s services was offset by the wonderful manner in, which von Cramm returned it, "Von Cramm was able to deal adequately with all the stroke-making that Budge produced. The doubles also was a worthy battle. The Australians combined well, Quist profiting by mahy openings made by Bromwich. Quist concentrated on Henkel, who v/as the weaker man on the day. The Germans were overshadowed by the Australian pair, who are developing into a Davis Cup combination.
