South Africa May Bar All-In Wrestling

(Received 1 p.m.) CAPETOWN, January 7. Two wrestlers, Abe Morris and Rudy Shards, have been notified that their six months’ permits to stay in South Africa have not been renewed. The permit of a third wrestler, Hank Oswald, was renewed on condition that he neither wrestled nor promoted matches. The Commissioner of Police considers all-in wrestling as “leading to the degeneration of sport and to dirty tactics,” also as inciting and brutalising the public. It is forecasted that legislation will be introduced subjecting wrestling to control similar to boxing.
