By defeating Auckland by 70 runs on the first innings, Wellington regained the Brabin Cup, which the northerners had held for the past two yeai’s..

A feature of the Wellington innings was a splendid stand by A. Thompson (113) and A. Du Feu, who put on 181 for the fourth wicket. A splendid bowling performance was registered for Auckland by K. C. Arkinstall, an Auckt land Grammar School boy. who took eight wickets for 60 runs off 83 deliveries.

Auckland, in its second innings, ran up 246 for nine wickets and applied the closure at the tea adjournment, which left Wellington with the task of making 177 runs to win outright and 105 minutes, in which to got them.
