METEOROLOGICAL SURVEY FOR TASMAN

“Plans are being elaborated for an extensive survey of meteorological and oceanographical conditions .in the North Atlantic for aviation purposes, and a special survey will commence in May next under the control of an international committee,” said Mr P. Entwhistle, of the British Air Ministry, who is a through passenger by the Niagai'a to America and England, after visiting New Zealand and Australia.
He said that a study of the Tasman would be comemnced in the near future and the international committee would have as its head Professor Hel-land-Hansen, of Norway, and the members would represent Germany, France, Great Britain, the United States and Denmark.
Rear-Admiral Edgell, hydrographer to the Royal Navy, would be the British representative. For the survey work over the Tasman, small balloons would be sent up from ships to test higher air currents, and officials would join the Awatea and Wanganella almost immediately.
