Poroti School Picnic
The annual picnic and sport events of the Poroti School were held on Friday in Mr J. Cutforth’s paddock. Favoured with ideal weather and shady surroundings, the function was a complete success, especially from the children’s point of view, as lolly and pea-' nut scrambles played an important part. Much credit is due to the small band of ladies who attended to the refreshment arrangements, and the members of the school committee, who acted as officials in the various events. During the evening a dance yras held in the local hall, voluntary music being supplied by Messrs K. Waterson, J. Norris, G. Mooney, C. Paul and B' Smith, with extras by Mrs A. Jones and Mr Norton. The district is fortunate in having such a wealth of willing helpers in this respect. Mr. C. Norris proved an efficient M.C., and no dull periods occurred to mar the evening’s entertainment.
