Matakohe

The first annual meeting of the Matakohe Football Club was held in- the hall on Friday avening,' Mr G. Peake presiding over an attendance of about 40 players and officials. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £l6/14/7. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr R. Coates; president, Mr G. Smith;, vice-presi-dents, Messrs. H. Neil, C. Ball, G. Peake, H. Sheppard, J. Sterling, A. L. Metcalfe, W. J. Smith, W. J. Erne, H. V. Metcalfe, W. Roygard, G. Coates, P Stratford, E. N. Metcalfe, A. C. Leaf; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Broomfield; management committee, Messrs. D. Neil, G. Peake, R. Neil, W. Smith Patterson, A. Metcalfe; social committee, Mesdames H. P. Metcalfe, C. Jenkins, G. Peake, and Misses M. Smith, D. Neil, N. Smith and M. Cates; delegates to Otamatea Rugby Union Messrs. G. Peake and G. Broomfieldselectors, Mr. C. Jenkins (seniors), Mr A. Neil (juniors), Mr W. Roygard (third grade); club captains, Mr W. Smith (seniors), Mr W. Erne (juniors); club nomination to referees’ association, Mr R. Julian. Team selectors were appointed coaches of their respective teams. As it is anticipated that there will be well over 50 playing members for the season, the delegates were instructed to nominate a senior, junior and third grade team at the annual meeting of the union.
