Smaller Entries at Addington

Entries at today’s Addington market were smaller in practically all sections, excepting breeding ewes. These were forward in particularly heavy numbers, and sold firmly at recent ewe fair parity. Good two-tooth Romney cross ewes sold at 40/ ;good halfbreds at up to 38/8; and big lines of soundmouthed at 24/ to 26/, with 4-year-olds up to 31/. Lambs in the stofe pens were firmer by up to 1/6. Fat lambs.—A small entry met with an advance on export rates, due to butchers’ competition. Fat sheep.—Prime wethers and ewes showed little change, but medium and inferior were cheaper by about 1/ to 1/6. Best wethers sold at from 27/ to 30/; good, from 24/ to 26/; light, down to 22/; best ewes, from 22/ to 26/; good, 19/ to 21/; Jight, dpwn to 14/. Fat cattle. —A small entry of 355 met an improved market by 10/ a head. Best steers sold from £l2 10/ to £ls; good, £lO 15/ to £l2 5/; light, down

to £9; best heifers and cows, £8 to £ll.

Fat pigs.—Porkers maintained last week’s rates, and baconers also showed little change. Porkers, 31/6 to 47/6; average price per Ib.j, s£d to 6d; baconers, 44/6 to £4 15/6, average price per lb. s£d to s|d.
