The Feilding Jockey Club’s spring meeting opened on Saturday in fine, but dull weather. The totalisator handled £30,668, making the total for the meeting £47,270 10/-, compared with £37,759 10/- last year.—
Feilding Juvenile Stakes, of 120 sovs; for two- year-olds; five furlongs.—(s) Smokescreen, 7.12, 1; (2) Wild Flower, 8.1, 2; (1) Greenwich, 8.11, 3. All started. Four lengths; neck. Time—--1.3 2-5.
Kowhai Hack Handicap, of 130 sovs; one mile and a distance. —(1) Hunting Queen, 9.3, 1; (9) King’s Lancer, 8.4, 2; (12) Nightlass, 7.11, 3. Martara was scratched. Three lengths; two lengths, Time—l.s6 1-5.
Fitzroy Hack, of 110 sovs; six furlongs.—(s) Eara, 7.13, 1; (3) Caen, 7.13, 2; (2) Brazen King, 8.11, 3. Kind Heart, and Moquette were scratched. A head; half a length. Time—l.l4 4-5. Kiwitea Handicap, of 130 sovs; seven furlongs.—(9) Darecourt,. 7.11, 1; (2) Chief Ranger, 8.9, 2; XI) Lowenberg, 8.9, 3. All started. Half a length; three-quarters of a length. Time — 1.28 2-5.
