(Received 10 a.ip.) ; LONDON, October 23. The “Financial Times” the action of New Zealand and Australia hi defence of British shipping. It says it cannot be said that they have acted in any way precipitatory. The case for . aiding British shipping • in its unequal struggle has been proved up to the hilt long since. New Zealand and Australia are to be congratulated as the- first to give it practical recognition. The “Morning Post” says if and when the. new legislation operates the United States cannot seriously complain; because New Zealand and Australia ' would be merely applying a method of protection which the United States has long used. The United .-+■ States is being given an opportunity to make suggestions before it does operate. N Perhaps the Dominions’ sighting shot will hit the mark.
