MANGAPAI HOCKEY DANCE
Despite many counter attractions, the hockey dance held at Mangapai on Thursday, truly 2, was voted a success by all who attended. A bus load of dancers from Matakohe and places en route swelled the crowd, and the dance went with a swing. Mr E. Hill capably performed M.C. duties, and Frank Carter’s band supplied the music. A duet by Messrs Newberry (piano-accordeon) and H. Higgott (banjo) was enthusiastically encored. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss N. Williams and Mr C. Monk.

R. Cavaye, black crinkle crepe; S. Ormandy, beige, lace and georgette; T. Edwards (Mareretu), green satin beaute with panne velvet coatee; E. Riddle (Paparoa), nil green satin beaute, black cape; G. Bint, blue floral silk crinkle. crepe; G. Macrae, white satin with diamante trimmings’. Misses Anne Scott-Davidson, white tunic and black velvet frock; N. Williams, flame satin; G. Finlayson, lettuce green crepe voile; B. Parnell, pink satin, chenille cape to tone; A. Whittle, eggshell blue georgette with silver lame trimmings; D. Wakelin, green taffeta; Lena P Randell (Mareretu) , white crepe-de-chine with swansdown trimming; M. G, Thomson, pale blue organdie; M. Freeman (Paparoa), blue and black sand crepe tunic; Mavis Monk, sky blue linen; J. Ringham, scarlet celanese satin, silver lame relief; Winnie Houghton, blue marocain with silver cloak; D. Webb, red marocain; T. Price, shell pink sand crepe marocain.
