CONTROL OF RUGBY
BIGGER VOICE FOR DOMINIONS (Received 1.30 p.m.) FREMANTLE, This Day. Having attended the Imperial Rugby Conference in London, Mr S. S. Dean, President of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr J. Prendeville, chairman of the Wellington Rugby Union, and Mr H. Holden, of the New South Wales Rugby Union, arrived by the Orontes. In a joint interview, they said that, as a result of the conference, the Dominions would, through the Rugby Football Union (England), have a greater voice in framing the laws of the game. The constitution submitted by the special constitution and laws committee had been approved by the conference. Australia’s request for amendment to the kicking into touch rule was sure to be approved by the Home authorities. It was added that there should be a far better understanding and greater harmony of the game as a result of the conference, which was the first at which all the Dominions were represented.
