INVITATION TO GERMANY
FRANCE MAY LEAVE NAVAL PARLEY (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. The “Sun-Herald” News Service representative says France has virtually intimated that she will withdraw from the Naval Conference, if Britain insists on an invitation to Germany. France does not object to Russia attending the conference, and would, in principle, like the Germans to come. French delegates state, however, that Germany’s attendance, in view of her naval agreement with Britain, would be tantamount to a breach of the Versailles Treaty, which no French Government would condone. The British are endeavouring to devise a formula to enable Germany’s attendance, without embarrassing France.
