Excellent weather has so far favoured the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association’s annual tourney, but rain commenced to fall last night, and this may hold up play today. In the men’s championship singles semifinals, E. D. Andrews (England) beat N. Smith (Wellington), B—6, 6—l. and J. C. Charters (Wellington) beat D. Ccombe (Wellington), B—6,8 —6, 6—l. In the ladies’ championship singles Miss D. Nicholls (Wellington) beat Miss MacFarlane (Auckland), 6 —l, 7—5. and Miss N. Beverley (Matamata) beat Miss Ramsay (Auckland), 6_4, 6—4.

The men’s championship doubles semi-finals were won by Coombe and Charters, who beat D. I. and J. C. Robertson, 5—7, 6—2. 6—3. and N. Sturt and N, Smith, who beat Pearce and Dyer. 6—4. 7—5.
