QUIET MORNING
[Special to "Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This. Day. As a result of a heavy rain during the last 24 hours, there was> no grass track available at Ellerslie this morning, and the bulk of the horses were restricted to pace work om the sand. The only fast effort executed was that of Val Spear and Master Vaals, who completed four furlongs on the' sand •in Slsec. Val Spear revelled in the easy going apd Master Vaals also went pleasingly. Te Kapia (F. Fergus) was schooled over a couple of pony hurdles and afterwards cleared) one of the big obstacles. He jumped well, and for a novice, showed greaj; aptitude.
