WAIPU
The ,Waipu Central School held its annual concert last Friday night. A programme consisting of action and part songs, > fancy dancing, short plays and recitations was rendered by the pupils, and greatly appreciated by a very large audience. As the result 0$ this gathering, the school sports funds were augmented by the sum of £2O. On Thursday last, a kitchen evening was arranged for Miss Mary McLean and Mr W. Reid, whose wedding takes place in the near future. An enjoyable evening was spent in the public hall by dancing to orchestral music. On behalf of those present, Mr D. H. McKenzie, in a happy strain, conveyed to .the guests of the evening the best, of wishes for their future happiness, and asked them to accept the many useful gifts arrayed before them. A. dainty, home-made supper was then handed round, and the singing of “For They are Jolly Good Fellows” brought a pleasant evening to a close.
Miss G. McMillan, of Devonport, is convalescing at her aunt’s, Mrs Harvey, of the Cave. Mrs Middleton, of Mt. Eden, motored through to spend the week-end with her son in^Vaipu. Miss M. England, of Auckland, is holidaying, with relatives in Waipu.
