OTTAWA AGREEMENT BRITAIN’S CLAIM. MEAT RESTRICTION QUESTION. t United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.! (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, December 28. The “Sydney Sun-Melbourne Herald” news service says that the postponement of the Federal Cabinet’s meeting to discuss the meat quota issue, has excited little comment, as it is realised that a week’s delay will not seriously affect the situation. Large quantities of meat are already on the way to England, however. Despite Australian assertions that Britain is not fulfilling her Ottawa obligations, it is claimed that Britain has stimulated the Dominions’ meat exports and reduced foreign imports. The latest import figures showing Britain’s meat exports from'Australia for 11 months in 1934 show that they totalled £6,414,000, against £4,205,000 in 1932. The New Zealand total was £12,515,000 against £10,542,000, whereas the Argentine total was reduced from £21,290,000 to £17,102,000. A message from Melbourne' states that the special meeting of the Federal Cabinet to discuss the meat restriction proposals, which was fixed for tomorrow. has been postponed until January 3, owing to difficulty in getting all the ministers together.
