NORTH SHORE TOURNEY SURMAN BEATEN [Special to “Northern Advocate.”} AUCKLAND, This Day. The North Shore Golf Club’s anual summer tournament was continued yesterday. Results: — Open championship.—First round: S. S. Wilson (Middlemore) beat Innis (Whakatane), 6 and 5; J. B. Graham (Feilding) beat Lawry (Napier), 5 and 3; K. Jeffry (Mirimar) beat J. Earle (Maungakiekie), 5 and 3; W. Eustace (Otahuhu) beat R. McCrystal (Titirangi), 2 and 1; H. Stevens (North Shore) beat S. Napier (Whakatane). 5 and 4; M. Bush (North Shore) beat T. McCorkindale (North Shore), 3 and 2; L. Clifford (Titirangi) beat H. Randup, 3 and 1; A. E.-Brown (North Shore) beat H. Nicholas (Pupuke), 2 and I.
In the second round of the championship Wilson beat Graham 1 up, Earl beat Eustace 3 and 2, Stevens beat Bush 4 and 3. Browne beat Clifford 4 and 2.
North Shore Handicap.—J. Matthews (Mirimar) beat M. Beecroft (Port Albert), 5 and 4; H. Preston, Jnr. (North Shore) beat J. Cashmore (Akarana), 5 and 4; D. Reid (North Shore) beat R. Harrison (Whangarei), 5 and 4; J. Nicholaus (Scotland) beat W. Surman (Whangarei), 3 and 2; J. Thompson (Titirangi) boat A. Woolley (Maungakiekie). 5 and 4; S. W. Chambers (North Shore) beat A. Robertshaw (Raetahi), 2 and 1; D. Graham (Feilding) beat B. Baumont (Titirangi), 1 up; J. Graham beat J. Martin (Onewhero). Second round: Matthews beat Preston. 3 and 2; Thompson beat Chambers. 2 and 1; Nicholaus beat Reid. 1 up. The morning bogey resulted in a tie between J. B. Graham and J. Matthews. each returning excellent cards of 4 up. In the middle round O. Crobert and H. Nicholas tied with 70 net.
