A small entry of 133 fat cattle, with a considerable proportion of dairybred stock included, came forward at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge. Values, in consequence, showed a distinct rise on late rates. With the demand good and bidding keen, dairybred lines sold well and made very satisfactory prices. Bullocks, medium to prime, £7 18/6 to £8 15/; others, from £5 15/; cows, medium to prime, £5 6/ to £6 15/; others, from £3 2/; heifers, medium to prime, £5 12/6 to £6B/; others, from £3 12/6. An entry of 680 store cattle of higfy quality met a firm market, and prices improved appreciably under good local and outside competition. Bullocks and steers made to £6 10/; heifers, to £2 17/; cows, to £3 6/. Fat sheep were in moderate supply, and values were on a par to easier, according to quality. Good sheep were unchanged" Ewes, medium to prime, shorn, made 17/6 to 18/7; woolly, to 20/6; wethers shorn, to 21/4; ewes, from 13/9; hoggets, woolly, to 23/6; shorn, to 19/6; lambs to 22/3. Store sheep made late values, with good inquiry. Ewes, shorn, 4-tooth, made to 23/; aged, to 10/9; ewes and lambs, all counted, to 15/6; woolly ewe hoggets, to 29/2; wether hoggets to 21/; wethers, shorn, to 20/; woolly, to 25/.
