The House of Commons, by 219 votes to 47, rejected the amendment to the Betting and Lotteries Bill proposed by Sir William Davison (Conservative—Kensington South). The amendment, sought to legalise lot-, teries, promoted under the Government’s authority, for the reduction of national debt and other public services.
