SPEEDILY CHECKED

GRAHAM STREET FIRE. SHED BADLY DAMAGED. At about 3 o’clock this afternoon, while Mr J. S. Day, of Graham Sti’eet, was absent at the Whangarei races, a fire occurred in a garage and wood shod at the rear of his residence in Graham Street. The blaze was noticed by a neighbour, who attempted to extinguish the flames with a garden hose. The Fire Brigade was called and soon had the fire f under control.

The shed, with a good deal of the wood it contained, was badly damaged and the garage adjoining was injured. The buildings are close to the house and a serious blaze might have resulted.
