BASKET SOCIAL. A very jolly time aa'us spent at a basket social organised by Miss -I. Topia, in aid of the Pakapuka Catholic Church, and held in the hall on the Ahipara gumfield. About 40 young people came through by bus from Herekino, and with a like number of local people the hall Avas croAvded to its full capacity. During the evening songs were con.tributed by Mrs Wiki Tere, Miss S. Hoori, Mrs McDoavg], Mr Adunson and Mr Bert Yelaich. Hula dances Avere giyen >by Miss R. Hapakuku and Miss M. Hunter. -The Monte Carlo waltz Avas Avon by Miss Jobe and partner, and the Statue ■waltz, by Miss M. Tartana and partner. ; 'Splendid music, Avas rendered by the Tartana Brothers’ orchestra. Mr Rabt; Clark acted as M.C. and auctioneer.
