(Special to "Northern fl.dvocaie.*’')

WAITANGI, This Day,

It is now known that a thousand campers were congregated in the official camp on the AVaitangi Estate. This number is far beyond the estimate of the Public AVorks Department and the capacity of the hill spring water supply had given concern from the start, when the authorities discovered that 20,000 gallons had been used in one night by the A'laori and European encampments. ’ Consequently early action was taken to cut the supply during the day time and to prevent wastage and the use of water for washing clothes and bathing purposes. It was stated by the authorities today that had the water not been conserved the supply in storage would have boon exhausted before the official ceremonies took place.
