The strike of Napier relief workers, which commenced on Monday morning, was called off today owing to insufficient support in other centres. The decision was reached at a mass mooting in the morning. When the strike was first declared, only 40 per cent of the men refused work in Napier, and 20 per cent in Hastings. Other Hawke’s Bay districts were not affected. The men originally struck on the understanding that the movement would be u national one.
