BRITAIN'S GROWING HABIT. FLOODING THE MARKET. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 1(5. The ‘‘ Evening News” says that the made in Japan” habit is beginning to supersede the “made in Germany” habit prevailing in pre-war Britain. It is astonishing the variety of Japanese articles that are flooding the British market at prices with which competition is impossible owing to the. low wages and long hours of Japanese operators.
Japanese competition is the 'Chief topic among leading Manchester shippers and manufacturers dealing in Australia, where Japan’s present drive a fleets every type of cotton and artificial silk piece goods. In this connection an interesting item was that a Japanese cotton delegation will arrive early in September, when the question of competition in every market will be discussed.
