LOCAL UNEMPLOYED
OXER AHI LINE REMOVAL. arrangements’ UNCHANGED. The Whangarei •Unemployment Coinmill ee recently to Mr 11. M Hopper, district certifying officer, suggesting that the removal of the Onerahi railway line could with advantage be given to unemployed men (about 2o) now resident at Onerahi. The committee understood that men working on the Kamo gravel pit, were likely to be put on the work. In reply, Mr Hopper has informed the committee that, as the Whangarei Harbour Board is able to find full employment for all relief workers registered at Onerahi, there does not appear to be any reason for interferingwith the Railway Department’s arrangements. ..
