“YEAST OF CIVILISATION”
A very powerful influence has iu recent, years been brought to bear for the. fostering and direction of the ideal of better living. It is called advertising. Advertising is the ‘’yeast of civilisation.” Under its potent spell one luxury after another is elevated to the rank of an everyday necessity, to the lasting benefit of the world at large. This vital principle jof business —advertising—is most fruitful when associated with the daily doings of the people. That is to say, advertising in a newspaper, which contains the chronicle of the day’s events all over the world, is the most efficient way of making the “yeast of civilisation” work to the best advantage. The paper goes into the homos of the farmer, the trader, the professional man, the worker; there is news there that interests all sections of the community, and there is news in the advertisements too — very important news of the stores and the markets. The seller of today is the buyer of tomorrow, so the newspaper advertisement in reaching the whole community, gives a maximum of service not possible with other media.
