There w T as a big attendance at. the dance held on the evening of sports day. Very enjoyable music, was rendered by a. special orchestra, wdio kept things going with a. swung.

During the evening the president of the club, Mr T. O’Carroll took occasion to thank all those wdio had worked so well to make the meeting a success. He also presented the Powell Cup to Mr IL-Leech, of Waikiokie, winner of the 120 yards local race.

Air O’Carroll, in handing over the cup, winch is held for one year and becomes the property of the competitor if won two years in succession, also a miniature cup, heartily congratulated the winner, and hoped he would continue to patronise the sports. The. president also congratulated Air V. Brownhill, wdio had tied for first place in the final, but had not been successful in the run-oIT. W.D.F.U.

The annual meeting of the loml branch of the Women’s Division of the Xew Zeeland Fanners’ Union was held at the residence of Mrs F. Walker on April 11. The president, Mrs T. E. Porter, was in the chair and gave a report of the year’s work, the treasurer, Mrs W. If. Gillingham, presenting the balance sheet showing a small sum to credit. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year. —President, Airs Harvey; vice-presidents, Mrs Hilton and Mrs F. Walker; secretary and treasurer, Mrs T. E. Porter; produce exchange secretary, Mrs Gillingham.

It was decided to hold a birthday party to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the branch.

Personal

Mr and Mrs Winkleman and young son have returned to Auckland after an enjoyable holiday spent with Airs Winklemanks parents, Air and Airs F. Walker.

Miss Chapman, assistant teacher, is spending her holidays in Auckland with her sister.

Mr P. Walker returned last week from an extended holiday spent in the 'South Island.
