REDUCED
MOIMUNS VTLLE VAL U A TIONS. BY NEARLY HALF. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) MORRINSVTLLE, This Day. The gross rateable value of the Borough of Morriusville has been considerably reduced by the recent general revaluation carried out at the request ot the Morrinsville Borough Council, with a view to removing anomalies which had crept in since the last general valuation in 1926.
Figures supplied by the town clerk show that the total value has been reduced to £121,000, compared with £222,• 000 in 192(1, and £187,000 a year ago. Recently ratepayers were notified of their new valuations and given an opportunity of lodging objections, which will be hoard at, the next sitting of the Assessment Court. It is understood that a number of objections have been lodged.
Until the Asaesment Court has finalised the valuation roll the council will not know what is 1 hr* total rateable value on which it can strike its rates. In any case the average rate in the £ will be from fid to 100 per cent, above last year’s, but most ratepayers will pay the same amount.
