MISSING FLIER
FATE OF ITALIAN ACE SUGGESTIVE EVIDENCE. WRECKAGE AND BODY FOUND. 'United Press Association—By. Electric
Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April IS
A Calcutta message states that there is no sign of Captain Eobbiano, the Italian air ace,' who left Croydon, England, on Sunday, April 9, and was reported missing a week later. Ho was endeavouring to fly to Australia in record time.
I|. is now reported that the body ol a European found by fishermen, together with aeroplane wreckage, on a small island off the coast of Bengal, is believed to be that of Captain Robbiano.
The wreckage is thought to be that of the plane of the missing airman, and is being sent to Calcutta for identification.
NO NEWS OF LANCASTER. TREACHEROUS DESERT. VERY FAINT HOPE. (Received 1 p.m.) PARIS, April IS. An official of the Trans-Sahara Company states that if Captain Lancaster, the British airman who has been missing since his departure across the desert on his flight to Cape Town, is in the Tanezruft Desert, there is little chance of his being found alive. Sandstorms arc preventing further search. There is, however, the slender hope that he may have encountered a caravan of a nomad tribe.
