SHEEP DOG TRIALS
WHANGAREI county fixture.
The. Whangarei County Sheep Dog Trials "Club ? s annual trials commenced this morning on Mr. D. .T. Finlayson’s property, Kamo, under very satisfaction - conditions.
The-ground -is in perfect- order, and the weather very suitable for trial work. A good line of sheep "were offered by various supporters of the club, and the officials carried out their duties very efficiently. There is a very fine attendance of tho public for a first day, and every convenience has been provided for their entertainment and comfort. To-morrow the committee expects a very largo patronage from the public in "general, and arrangements are well forward for catering for a big attend-
ance. A start was made this morning wdth the first event —the Long Head —for which there arc over 30 competitors. At the time of going to press, about two-thirds of tins pumber had completed their runs. Though some very fair work has been done, nothing of an outstanding nature has yet been seen. It is expected that the event will be completed by this evening. To-morrow the Short Head, which is a most spectacular event, and the Huntaway will be put through. Mr. Peter McKenzie, of . Broadwood, is acting as judge. To-morrow will be the last day of the trials, and the public are invited to give the club their patronage. -
