MAORI WOMAN LOSES LIFE

A drowning accident occurred at Raweno yesterday, when a Maori woman, Mrs Sarah Karauna, lost her lifewhile gathering pipis. A party of Maoris w T as out gathering pipis in the tidal river, Omanaia. Mrs Karauna was wading across the channel when she suddenly disappeared, and no sign has been seen of her since. The policfe carried out dragging operations last night, and again at low tide this morning, but the body has not been recovered. Mrs Karauna leaves a family of throe children.
