Mr G. Gore, of Wellington, president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, has arrived in Auckland to welcome the members of the American Lawn Tennis team, which is duo to arrive in Auckland by the Niagara on Monday morning.

The following promotions of school inspectors have been made; —Mr W. A. Service, senior inspector at Invercargill, to be senior inspector at Dunedin; Mr A. Bain, acting senior inspector at Dunedin, to lie senior inspector at New Plymouth; Mr C. A. Haalam, inspector in Canterbury, to he senior inspeetor at Invercargill; Mr T. A. Morland, inspector at Auckland, to he senior inspector at Napier; Mr D. MeCaskill, senior inspector in Hawke’s Bay, to to senior inspector in Wellington.

There Avas a pleasant little function today, members of the "Northern Advocate” staff mot round the stone to wish Mr R. ,T. Dunn, who is getting married early next week, the host of luck. Air Dunn has been on the staff for nearly seven years. On behalf of the staff, Mr H. W. -Crawford presented Mr Dunn with a silver teapot, and a set of carvers, and in doing so wished the recipient the happiest of married life. Mr Dunn replied, thanking the staff for the token of their esteem.
