OBITUARY
MB ANDREW BUCHANAN. The death has occurred at Palmerston North of an old resident of that town, Mr Andrew Buchanan, aged 72, who had been member of several local bodies. Born at Glasgow', Mr Buchanan came to New Zealand with his parents in 18(51, landing at Auckland. He wns educated at the Auckland Grammar School. After learning the wholesale business in his father’s warehouse, Mr Buchanan wns for many years engaged as a commercial traveller. Taking up several wholesale commercial agencies, Mr Buchanan left Auckland in 1892 with his family and resided for a time at New Plymouth and then at Wanganui. He finally settled at Palmerston North. Following his retirement from commercial life less -than 20 years ago, Mr Buchanan established his well-known pedigree Jersey herd. In december, 1918, 'he - contested the Palmerston North seat at the by-election at which Mr J. A. Nash was first elected. Mr Buchanan is survived by his widow, seven daughters and four sons.
