BOWLING AT DARGAVILLE
SPECIAL OCCASION. POPULAR MEMBER FAREWELLED. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) DARGAVILLE, This Day. The final or the Dargaville Bowling Club's pairs championship was not played last season owing to sickness among the competitors. In view of the early transfer from the district of ■Sergeant L. E. Capp, one of the finalists, it was ‘decided to play the final or. Tuesday evening on a specially prepared green. The finalists were W. Hughes and Capp, and R. D. Johnston and F. 0. Davey. Hughes and Capp .led a—l at the iifth head, but from then on Johnston and Davey forged ahead, finally winning by 2G—l2, At the close of play opportunity was taken -by members of the. club to present Sergeant Capp with a travelling rug. Mr H, B. Armitakc, in making the presentation, expressed regret at Sergeant Capp's departure and offered congratulations on his promotion to Wanganui. Mrs Capp received a presentation of a handbag from members of the club. Sergeant Capp has been a prominent bowler for some time. Last year he won the singles championship and was a member of the club rink which won the North Auckland Centre tournament.
