The astounding victory of the Democrats in the elections at Maine, in which their nominee for the Governorship and two of their three candidates' for Congress were victorious, is regarded as a sharp set-back to Air Hoover’s chances of re-election as President. The Democrat leaders are correspondingly confident. The anti-prohi-bition views of the. victorious Democrats have led the “wet” leaders to predict the early repeal of prohibition. The “drys” are silent. Air Hoover has telegraphed to the chairman of the Republican campaign urging renewed vigour by the party’s workers.
