CYCLIST INJURED
| THROWN PROM MACHINE. SKID ON SLIPPERY ROAD. FRACTURE OF SKULL. A fractured skull was sustained by Mr D. Bathgate, a young man living at Valley Road, Hikurangi, when his motor cycle skidded at the intersection of Kamo Road and Kensington Avenue this morning. Air Bathgate was riding in from Hikurangi, and was turning into. Nixon Street, when his machine began to skid on the bitumen surface, made slippery by the rain. The cycle skidded for about 30 yards, and Mr Bathgat h was thrown clear. He finished up on the wrong side of. the road, .striking his head .heavily on the pavement. The injured man, was .taken by the St. John Ambulance to the Whangarei Hospital, ; Where'his condition is reported to be serious. In quiry at the hospital late this afternoon elicited the information that Mr Bathgate’s condition was unchanged.
