THE WORD “AUSTRALASIA”
OBJECTION RENEWED. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In the Legislative Council yesterday, the Hon. W. E. Collins (Wellington) asked the Leader what steps had been taken in regard to the motion carried last year objecting to the use of the term, “ Australasia.' ’ -Sir James Parr replied that on Novcnlber 11, 1931, a resolution was passed urging the Government to instruct the High Commissioner to take such stops as might be necessary to draw the attention of English publishing houses, particularly those which were responsible for the issue of standard works of reference, to the desirability of using the phrase “Australia and New Zealand” when referring to the Commonwealth and the Dominion collectively.
A copy of the resolution was forwarded by tlio Prime Minister to the High Commissioner, who replied that ho had taken action in the desired direction, and that the terms of the resolution had been conveyed to forty publishing firms in Great Britain.
