In the Arbitration Court yesterdayafternoon, a claim for compensation was brought by Drago Glucina, labourer (Mr Noble), against Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement Co., Ltd. (Mr West), in respect to an accident which befel him on August / 26 of last year. While working aT’tEe Portland wharf plaintiff was struck by a sling of cement and knocked on to a scow 20 feet below. He received a fracture of the spine, fractures of five ribs and internal injuries. Plaintiff admitted he had been paid compensation amounting to £164, but sought further relief. The Court awarded plaintiff £256, less what has already been paid by the company. Costs were allowed.
