“WAIT AND SEE'’
A TJBTRALTA ’S COVERNOR
GENERAL
CONTINGENT FACTORS,
(Received 11.41 a.m.) . LONDON, November 13
“Wait and see,” is the official attitude towards the report from Australia that the Labour Party was adopting a motion in favour of the appointment of a local Governor-Gen-eral.
It is recalled that there was a similar discussion over State Governors for Canada in a recent year, when it was laid down that there was nothing to prevent the Dominion having local nominees, hint it was pointed out ii was a. different matter with a Gover-nor-General, in light of the 1920 Imperial Conference, which designated him as the personal representative cf His Majesty, who would be guided by his Australian Minister. Unofficial comment is that one of the difficulties will be getting someone entirely detached from local politics.
