ELECTION OF COUNCILLOR

WATERWORKS EXTENSION. POLLING TODAY. Polling 'is being carried on today in the Whangarei Borough for the election of one councillor to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Or. A. M. Bust, on the Borough Councih Ratepayers are also asked to vote on the new extension of waterworks loan for the -purpose of laying a 12ineh -east-iron main from the junction of Cameron and Bank Streets to the Whau Valley reservoir; connecting the present 4-inch mains and laying new 4-ineh mains where necessary; laying 1-inch mains on opposite side of street to 12-inch mains and taking up the present 7-inch mains, reconditioning and relaying in Mill Road and Main’s Avenue.

Only twm candidates are standing for the position on the Council, Messrs A. W. Armstrong and P. R. Gardner. Polling booths are situated-v at the Town Hall supper room, Mr Sneddon’s shop, Church -Street, and Mr Wilson’s shop at the corner of Maunu and Kauika Roads. The booths will close at 7 o’clock tonight.

Up to the time of the “Advocate” going to press the polling had been fairly light.
